Designed to the professional specifications recommended by UGA Cortona’s professors, our fully equipped Jewelry and Metalwork studio gives students the resources to create metalwork using a range of materials and methods. Individual workbench stations let students learn and practice their craft with its necessary tools close at hand.

The studio contains permanent equipment for small metals casting, including a new computerized burnout and dewaxing kiln, acquired in Fall 2015. The casting work area also includes an oxy-acetylene torch, a centrifugal casting machine, and a vacuum investing table.

Additionally, acetylene-air soldering torches, an oxy-propane torch, and flex shafts are all available for student use. A pickling vat, drill press, buffing machine, bench grinder, bench shear, and anvil are all installed, as well.

Finally, the Jewelry and Metalwork studio keeps an extensive array of hand tools on hand, including hammers, mallets, wire cutters, pliers, files, calipers, saw frames and blades.
