Monument to Gino Schippa

The ceramics class of Summer 2018, led by instructor Alexis Gregg, undertook a very special project that will grace our campus for years to come.  Together they researched, designed, sculpted, and fired a beautiful glazed ceramic monument dedicated to UGA Cortona’s beloved friend and caretaker, Gino Schippa, who passed away in August 2016.

2019 Spring Mostra Poster

Our students are practically living in the studios these days in order to finish up their pieces for the Mostra — our final exhibition opens next Friday, April 12, at Palazzo Ferretti in Cortona!

UGA Cortona has teamed up with Cortona's radio station, Radio Incontri InBlu Cortona, to create a brand new radio program called “Young Americans”.

On Friday, our Spring students met visiting artist Mercedes Jelinek, a young photographer who is successfully supporting herself as an artist.

The Association of American College and University Programs in Italy (AACUPI), in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy and the Istituti Italiani di Cultura (IIC), has organized the second edition of “Back from Italy”, an exhibition and panel discussion featuring work by young architecture students who have recently spent a semester in Italy.  The University of Georgia’s Cortona Studies Abroad Program is one of the fifteen programs participating in the exhibition, presenting work by our Summer 2018 Landscape Architecture and Interior Design students.
