UGA Cortona Drawing Facilities
UGA Cortona students and faculty draw from a model in the studio.

The Severini School contains several large studio classrooms outfitted with drawing boards, benches, drafting tables, stools, and other essential equipment for studio drawing. These studio spaces all have ample natural light provided by large windows with a view of the Valdichiana (Chiana Valley); studio-grade lamps are also available for creating specific studio lighting arrangements. Flat files provide storage space for paper stock and student work.

But the studio represents only a fraction of the drawing opportunities available in and around Cortona, which provides students with an incomparable array of architecture, landscape, textures, and patterns to work from. The Cortonese welcome UGA students drawing in their city, and students are therefore encouraged to check out field easels available at the Severini School to work off campus. Sketchbook work in the field is also an integral part of regularly scheduled excursions to other Italian cities.
