The Betty F. King Painting Studio is one of UGA Cortona’s most remarkable studio spaces. Located in the JDK Center, it is a deconsecrated chapel, fully renovated and equipped with full-spectrum studio lighting and a radiant heating system beneath its terra cotta floor.
The expansive studio space can be configured to accomodate many kinds of student projects. It provides ample storage for paint, supports, solvents, and other materials. Studio furniture includes easels and taborets for indoor use. UGA Cortona students are encouraged to work outside, to take full advantage of the campus’ remarkable location. To this end, portable French easels designed for working in the field are also available for student use.
