General Criteria for Faculty Positions
- This application and review process is intended for individuals seeking to teach at the UGA Cortona International Center in the following disciplines: Studio Art, Art History, Graphic Design, Interior Design, and Art Education. Please note that not all areas are offered every term in Cortona.
- The review committee will evaluate candidates based on their personal accomplishments in art, design, or research, as well as their effectiveness in studio and/or classroom teaching.
- Faculty from the University of Georgia have priority for teaching positions with UGA Cortona. If no UGA faculty member applies to a particular term, applications from individuals outside the university will be considered.
- Teaching appointments are typically awarded to candidates who hold a terminal degree in their field and have at least three years of full-time university-level teaching experience.
- Previous travel in Italy or participation in a study abroad program may be viewed favorably by the review committee.
Process:
- The UGA Cortona International Center hosts a new faculty and student body each semester. Prospective faculty must apply for each occasion they wish to teach in Cortona.
- Exceptions: University of Georgia, Lamar Dodd School of Art Faculty whose application materials are on file with the Cortona program, current within three years.
- Applicants will submit application materials through the UGA Cortona SlideRoom portal: https://ugacortona.slideroom.com/#/Login
Application materials to be submitted through SlideRoom:
- Current CV
- Images of candidate work and student work, if applicable (total 15-20)
- A list of three references including addresses, phone numbers, and email address.
- Any additional material you feel is pertinent for teaching with the UGA International Center in Cortona, Italy
Application Deadlines:
- Applicants wishing to teach during a Spring or Summer term must apply by February 7 of the year prior to the proposed (Spring or Summer) program.
- Applicants wishing to teach during a Fall term must apply by September 7 of the year prior to the proposed Fall program.
