FHCE 3200 — Introduction to Personal Finance (TBD) (Undergraduate)
No prerequisite.
The intent of this course is to provide students with a fun and engaging overview of personal finance. The goal of financial planning education is to help you get closer to reaching your personal dreams and goals. The course will cover a broad range of personal finance topics, which if understood and applied, will help you achieve your financial goals. Financial pitfalls will also be discussed.
FHCE 4205 — Wealth Management II - Investing (TBD) (Undergraduate)
This course focuses on the theory and practice of personal investment planning. Emphasizing the tools and techniques necessary to build a portfolio using both financial planning software and theories employed by the financial planning industry. Topics covered include but are not limited to: basics of investment planning and financial markets, investment portfolio risk-return relationship, portfolio management, investment theories, modern portfolio theory, fundamentals of portfolio design, diversification and allocation, fundamental analysis, mutual fund selection, fund manager selection, investment policies and philosophies, and financial planning investment software. In addition, this course will incorporate a comprehensive perspective on portfolio construction including European Union, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern geographic markets, as well as alternative asset allocations, such as art and collectibles.
FHCE 4210 — Retirement Planning (TBD) (Undergraduate)
Evaluation of retirement plans and employee benefits in the context of prescriptive financial planning decisions. Discussion of a more advanced concept of time value of money, risk tolerance, life expectancy, social security, retirement plans, tax implications of retirement plans, and health insurance. In addition, this course will incorporate discussions of retiring to locations outside of the United States and how decisions effect financial needs, housing, and health insurance.
FHCE 4230 — Income Tax Planning (TBD) (Undergraduate)
The objective of income tax planning is to utilize legal strategies that can be adopted by families or individuals to plan for and optimize the after-tax return on investments and resources across the life cycle.
