WMST - Women's Studies - Tentatively Offered Spring

Women's Studies

This course is tentatively offered on the Spring Program.

This course is an interdisciplinary survey of the lives and work of multicultural women in the United States. In this class, students will focus on both historical and contemporary concerns and issues affecting the lives of women in order to critically consider histories of race, class, gender, power, and privilege in the U.S. This class will familiarize students with major theoretical and practical debates in women’s studies scholarship across various disciplines– we’ll read, but we’ll also watch films, listen to podcasts, and look at art. While this course is usually focused on a U.S. context, we will take advantage of our location and look at Italian feminisms and representations of gender in Italian art, as well as exploring exchanges between Italian and American women’s movements.
